Is Coaching Right For Me?
Is coaching right for me?
Am I right for coaching?
These are brilliant questions to have in your mind when considering coaching. I’m a trained, qualified and accredited coach with years and hundreds of hours of experience; let me try to help you answer these questions with some information - as only you can really answer them.
Coaching could be right for you if:
You have goals or aspirations you want to achieve
Both personal and professional, coaching can help you clarify your goals, create actionable steps, and stay accountable.
You feel stuck in a rut, need clarity or direction
Coaching provides a space to explore your thoughts, identify priorities, gain direction and momentum. It can really help untangle overwhelm and procrastination.
You want to develop, enhance and refine specific skills or behaviors
Coaching can help you develop and hone your leadership, communication, relationship, cooperation and teamwork skills. It can also help you tackle dips in confidence, decision-making concerns and much more.
You’re navigating a transition
Changing career, stepping up into a leadership role, transitioning from D to C-Suite, life transitions, relationship challenges and changes; coaching supports you in adapting and thriving.
You’re ready to invest in your growth
Coaching is all about self-awareness and self-reflection. You really need to be open to learning about yourself and how you show up in your world.
What kind of things, problems or concerns do people take to coaching?
Stepping up into a new role:
Changing lanes and stepping into the new DorC-Suite role feels brilliant and often brings confidence wobbles, niggling self-doubt and impostery thoughts and feelings. Coaching can help you get to the bottom of the wobbles, build confidence and momentum quickly.
Finding your purpose:
What makes you, you? Who are you now at this stage in your life? What do you really want? What’s important? What do you want to stop doing? What fulfils you? So many questions sit behind the concept of life purpose and coaching helps you work through them all.
Thinking clearly on deep issues:
All eyes are on you to know what’s next and to get everyone there. Coaching is a confidential space to think deeply, clearly and critically: tricky people decisions and tough calls, I’ve been there. As a coach I facilitate your deepest thinking, help you tease out all the whys, why not’s, so what’s, and what if’s, before, during and after you commit to a plan.
Developing a sense of internal balance and congruence:
Maybe you’re sensing some internal incongruence? Doing one thing but thinking and feeling the opposite, it’s all a wee bit out of kilter and you’re getting tired of it? What drove you, gave you the buzz and felt great somehow just no longer does. Coaching can help you pinpoint what’s out of balance and why, so you can feel stable, robust, resilient and make decisions to get you on the right path again.
Connecting with yourself and others; relationships:
Relationships are the glue that hold us and the business together, but they’re often our biggest challenge. Sometimes they are so strained they’re on our minds all the time and interactions become clunky and difficult. Coaching is a haven to unpack these important dynamics and really see what’s going on – and decide what you’re going to do about it.
Receiving & Giving Feedback
Some of that feedback stings a bit, doesn’t make sense or is just who you are and how or why should you change? Coaching is a safe non-judgemental space to make sense of a 360 or review and shape your authentic response. It’s also a great space to work on the art of giving constructive feedback to others.
What can I expect from coaching?
I coach at the developmental and transformational end of the spectrum, which means I work holistically with you on finding more effective ways of development, personal growth, achievement, and success – whatever that means to you. In there is resilience, authenticity, autonomy, confidence, connection, ambition, drive, values, beliefs, behaviours, results and action.
You will experience the rewarding side of:
Shifts & Changes
Let’s be clear - you’ve come to coaching because something needs to change, right? Shifts, insights, pennies dropping, ‘Aha moments’, strength, resilience, and radical realisations – these all add up. These can happen in the session and often happen in-between sessions. This always brings momentum and change.
Self-awareness
I bring a powerful focus on developing awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Yes, we will be discussing how you feel about things, people, stuff and how this shapes your thoughts and responsive behaviours. I help you develop a mindful connection to and acceptance of yourself - this is the backbone of any sustainable change.
Self- Reflection
It's part of coaching with me. Describing your strengths, development areas, values, and beliefs requires reflection on what got you here and what will get you there. I don’t offer you a solution, I offer you the time to think and space to reflect to find the right solution for you. I’m often described as a ‘thinking partner’.
Space
I provide a dedicated space and time for YOU and your thoughts; it’s quite luxurious actually. I don’t coach you in your workspace as I think you need to escape; we might use Zoom where you are in your comfy space, go for a walk, meet for coffee, whatever works for us.
A Wee Bit of Discomfort
Full disclosure, you will be uncomfortable at times; I will challenge and push your thinking and question your views – this and your chosen action will take you outside of your comfort zone – together we’ll deal with what this brings along the way. Personal development, growth and transformation is uncomfortable. Fact!
Curiosity
I’m genuinely curious and completely honest with you, which often spurs constructive challenge. I encourage and push you to be curious about yourself and your world. I really push you to be very honest with me and more importantly with yourself. My coaching is way more than training or performance management - if you’re up for it, it’s transformational.
If you want to know a bit more and tippy-toe into some of these spaces, that curiosity is a great start to a Chemistry Session – bring your ‘stuff’ and all your questions and make an informed choice. It’s just a wee chat. Only you will know for sure if coaching is right for you but telling me what you want and don’t will help us work out if coaching is for you – then you can decide if coaching with me is for you.

How do I choose the right coach?
I’ve written a whole piece on what to consider when choosing a coach below; “Choosing a coach”, check it out here.

Costs vary widely based on the coach’s expertise and location. I show all my pricing openly on my website on Pricing page. I offer 3 rates: Private Self Funded, Private Organisation Funded and Executive Coaching.
Is coaching done in person or virtually?
Both options are common and I work in person and via zoom depending on your location, diary commitments and preferences.
